Emilienne Malfatto is an independent photojournalist and journalist working on long-term projects related to post-conflict or conflict-adjacent zones. Emilienne studied political science in France, and then photography and sociology in Bogotá, Colombia. She worked for a Colombian newspaper before moving back to Paris and completing her studies in journalism. In 2013, she joined AFP and worked in France and the Middle East, before moving to Erbil, Iraq, at the end of 2014 to freelance. She now lives and works between southern Iraq, France, and Latin America.
