At age 16, Erica Cirino became a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. While healing injured and sick hawks, turtles, opossums, and other creatures, Cirino began creating artworks and writings inspired by her rehabilitation work. Since then, Cirino has become a full-time freelance science writer and artist, remaining a licensed rehabilitator. Based in New York, she travels the world covering stories for Scientific American, Vice, and other popular publications.
