Sandy Ong is a freelance science journalist based in Singapore. She travels the region in search of stories on health, technology, science, and the environment. Recent reporting trips included rescuing moon bears from illegal bear bile farms in Vietnam, and exploring the effect of lead pollution on rivers in Manila in the Philippines. Her work has appeared in the Atlantic, Newsweek, New Scientist, Undark, and Wired UK, among other outlets.
