Tommy Trenchard is a freelance writer and photographer currently based in Cape Town, South Africa. His work focuses primarily on humanitarian issues in Africa and the Middle East, but he also regularly covers coastal communities around the world and their changing relationship with the ocean. These projects have taken him from sea cucumber ranches in Madagascar to Bajau stilt villages in Indonesia and longline fishing vessels in the mid-Atlantic.
